TRÚNÓ Gay Café & Bar

As well as being a fabulous café during the day Trúnó puts on her dancing shoes and her partydress in the evenings and her favourite party nights are, well every night but the most popular ones are Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday night.
Trúnó is open until 01 on Wedensdays and Thursdays and 04 on Friday and Saturdays.
Every Friday and Saturday night there are great Dj's playing tunes to get you into the right kinda groove. Bartenders pour you cold beers, strong shots and shake some fantabulous cocktails.
The crowd gathers earlier at Trúnó than most places, as you might already know Icelanders go out late, midnight - 01, but in Trúnó you can expect a crowd much earlier than that.
Trúnó is open daily, from Sunday to Thursday from 11:00 - 01:00 and on Friday and Saturday from 11:00 - 04:00.
Trúnó have a very active Facebook page and urge you to join us.

BARBARA SUNSHINE BAR

Barbara's full name is Barbara Sunshine and she is pink, joyous, happy and the only GAY dancenightclub in Iceland. When Barbara opened there was a vision her owners wanted her to live up to: You are greeted with a smile and you should feel right at home in the welcoming atmosphere, here you can be who you are and lose yourself to the music. The crowd is mostly gay and lesbian but like any gay bar it is becoming more and more popular with everyone who just loves to dance. At Barbara the music is always good, queer and thumping 'til 5 in the morning on Fridays and Saturdays. There are no laws against dancing on tables, singing at the top of your lungs and taking your shirt off.

Gay dances

Gay dances are held all year round at various places to support our local LGBT organizations. Many years of tradition surround these events and have they been popular with all age groups. The djs are gay and local and there is often live entertainment. They are advertised on the locals' email-lists, on Facebook and by word of mouth. You should ask us about them during your stay, we totally recommend the experience. There is usually a light cover charge ranging from 1000 - 1500 ISK and all the profits go to the local LGBT associations.

Q nights

Q nights are held weekly on Friday nights at the local community centre, Rainbow room, at 21:00. These nights often have a fun theme, for instance, gender bending night, gay movie nights and cosy time but mostly they are a good way to get to know some fun people, have great conversations and warm up for a night on the town. The crowd is all queer and often there is a good deal on beverages. More information is to be found on their website.
