A selection of boutiques, designer labels, arts and crafts
galleries and jewelry design studios can be found in the heart of
Reykjavik. The city offers a great selection of high-quality
fashion clothing and other exciting merchandise, both local and
global. Icelanders are big spenders and are known for being very
fashion-conscious and this is reflected in all the different labels
available in the city. The Icelandic design scene is extremely
innovative and most of the shops selling local design can be found
in the city centre, especially on Laugavegur, Skólavörðustígur and
around the Old harbour.
Pink Iceland has selected some of the trendiest, most vibrant,
newest, and most interesting shops around town with an emphasis on
gay friendly service.
Sir. Hákon Hildibrand
We are so proud to have within our Pink Iceland team as
fabulous and knowledgeable a guy on fashion as Sir. Hákon Hildibrand. Not only
is he a designer himself but we would go as far as calling him a
fashion guru. Let him take you on a stroll in the city centre where
everything is crawling with designer stores. He will lead you
places you wouldn't have thought of visiting and introduce you to
Reykjavík city as you could have never imagined it. His tours are
usually about 2 hours and you help create them by letting him know
what sort of design you are most interested in. The tour ends at
Sir. Hákon's boutique which is an open workshop specialized in
recycled design.
Aurum
One of the best shops in Reykjavik in our opinion with
great design. The Aurum jewelry line is designed by
Icelandic designer Gudbjorg Kristin Ingvarsdottir. The label was
founded in 1999 by Gudbjorg and has been growing ever since.
The jewelry pieces are created from precious metals and are
modelled in part from nature, with its delicate, irregular
shapes that perpetually challenge traditional ideas of balance and
form. The jewelries are based on modern designs and methods while
being both stylish and classic, and in that way hold a sense of
timelessness. Along with Gudbjorg's design, Aurum offers a variety
of unique and fun products from great Icelandic and
international designers.
Mania
Gay owned Mania is a hip store specialized
in sunglasses and extravagant shoes. The stylish Maria will welcome
you in her store and make sure you'll find the coolest sunglasses
and shoes so you can stroll down Laugavegur more fabulous than
ever!
