Reykjavik offers a great variety of restaurants, bistros, cafés,
fast foods and late night eateries. Icelandic chefs have adopted
flavours of international cuisine and married it with local fresh
ingredients. For a taste of Iceland you should try the lamb, fresh
fish, seafood and organic vegetables. Cafés and coffee shops are in
abundance in Reykjavik city centre. There is practically one
on every street corner, but each one has a defining ingredient that
makes it special. We have chosen our favourite restaurants,
cafés and bistros in town to make sure that you'll get the most out
of your stay:

During your stay we also recommend that you taste some of
the traditional goodies:
- Skyr: Icelandic cultured dairy product,
technically it is a sort of very soft cheese but it really isn't.
Don't even think about calling it yogurt because it isn't that
either. Well, we guess you'll just have to taste it and figure out
your own description. You can get skyr in every supermarket and
small store.
- Hangikjöt: means "hung meat" and is smoked
lamb, usually boiled and served either hot or cold in slices.
Delicious
- Ein með öllu at Bæjarins bestu: the best hot
dog you'll ever have! With all the fixings including ketchup,
mustard, remoulade sauce, fried and raw onions. It's even better
after a night on the town, but if you are taking someone home with
you make sure that you are both eating this famous hot dog.
- Local pastries: the bakeries here in Iceland
are a carbo paradise, you'll have to taste the
kleina (a donut with a twist), the
snúður (just something really really tasty) and
more that triggers your palate.
- Dried fish, have it with butter. We love it!
