We’ve
missed her.

We launched our first Rainbow Reykjavík way back in 2011 shortly after Pink Iceland was born. Back then people mostly visited Iceland during the summer and we saw an opportunity to create a fun and uplifting Winter Pride Festival. We decided to call her Rainbow Reykjavík.

Our ninth festival took place in February 2020. And then the world paused for a couple of years due to the COVID pandemic. We’ve wanted to bring the festival back every year since but now we’re finally doing it, and we couldn’t be more excited.

We’ve missed the people, the adventures, the getting everyone together and seeing where the night takes us. So from March 4th to 7th, 2027, we’re doing it again. Some things have changed, but we’re still here, still queer, and we’d love to show you a good time.

Pink Iceland is a local, queer-owned company, born in 2011. We plan weddings, tours and travel around the country, and sharing our Iceland with our community has always been close to our hearts. Rainbow Reykjavík brings those things together: the places we love, the people we love working with, and a very good excuse to celebrate.

Expect waterfalls, hot springs, tectonic plates, queens, kings, new friendships and some late nights.

Festival programme

4–7 MARCH 2027

MARCH04THURSDAY

INCLUDED · STARTS AT 5 P.M.

Let’s get acquainted.

We’ll start things off with a Queer City Walk where we’ll introduce you to Reykjavík and her herstory. The tour ends at the Pink Iceland office with a welcome drink, or three. You’ll get a chance to meet the Pink Iceland team, mingle with fellow travellers and toast the weekend ahead.

Meet us at 5 p.m. at Pink Iceland, Skólavörðustígur 16 ↗︎. We’ll finish the walk at the same place we started.

MARCH05FRIDAY

INCLUDED · LUNCH TOO

The Gay Golden Circle & Drag at Kiki Queer Bar

The Golden Circle is the quintessential tour for anyone visiting Iceland. Naturally, we’ll do it with a Pink Iceland twist. Expect erupting geysers, amazing waterfalls, tectonic plates at Þingvellir National Park and excellent company. Lunch is included.

Once we’re back in town, you’ll have time to freshen up and grab something to eat before we meet again at Kiki Queer Bar. This colourful downtown queer bar is a favourite place to dance, mingle and make a night of it. Reykjavík drag troupe House of Heart will get things going with a show full of local drag talent and personality.

MARCH07SUNDAY

OPTIONAL · DETAILS TO COME

One more for the road?

From experience, we know we’re going to want to hang out some more, so keep your Sunday free and flexible. We’ll arrange brunch, a late lunch or another excuse to get together for food or drink and one more toast before it’s time to say goodbye. This gathering is optional, with food and drinks payable at the venue we end up at.

AFTER DARK

Keep an eye
on the sky.

The northern lights have always been part of the Rainbow Reykjavík story. March is a very good time to look for them, with dark evenings still on our side. Of course, we can’t promise an appearance: Mother nature has the final say.

SATURDAY · OPTIONAL ADD-ON

Steamy
Stillness

Make sure you pack your swimsuit if you want to join us for the optional Sky Lagoon visit before Saturday’s celebrations. We’ve secured enough spots for everyone joining the festival who wants to come along.

We’ve gone for the premium entry, Sér, which includes access to the lagoon, the seven-step Skjól Ritual, and private changing facilities with a private shower and towels.

US$199 per person

Including a Pink Iceland host and transfers to and from Sky Lagoon.

The Sky Lagoon visit is an optional add-on to the Rainbow Reykjavík package and can be added during the booking process. And don’t worry if you decide to add it at a later date: get in touch and we’ll take care of it.

Four downtown bases. One code: PINKICELAND.

Stay close
to the action.

We love working with our long-time and highly favoured partners at KEA Hotels. They’re a local, queer friendly hotel chain who we happily trust to take good care of you.

Stay close to the action and choose one of these four downtown hotels: Skuggi, Apotek, Borg or Sand. They all make a convenient base for the festival, keeping everyone within easy reach of each other.

Use code PINKICELAND when booking with KEA Hotels ↗︎ for a discount at any of these four hotels, or get in touch and we’ll take care of it for you.

Please note that all tours start and end in the 101 (downtown) area. If you choose a hotel outside the area, you may need to arrange your own transfers to and from the downtown area. Accommodation is booked separately from your festival package.

A FEW PRACTICAL THINGS

Good to know

Can I come on my own?

Absolutely. Plenty of our guests do. We’ll get to know each other on the city walk, over welcome drinks and throughout the weekend. Come on your own, with a partner or with friends.

Is this Reykjavík Pride?

Rainbow Reykjavík is our winter Pride festival. Reykjavík Pride takes place in August, which gives you a very good reason to visit us twice.

If you can’t come this winter, or would prefer to join us for August Pride, we offer our Queer History Walk and Gay Golden Circle Tour for Pride 2027. Have a look at our Reykjavík Pride page ↗︎ for dates and bookings.

Is Sky Lagoon included?

No. The Saturday Sky Lagoon trip is an optional add-on to the base festival package. It costs US$199 per person and includes premium Sér admission, the Skjól Ritual, a towel, return transfers and a Pink Iceland host. You can add it when booking your festival package.

Where do we meet?

The festival starts at 5 p.m. on Thursday, March 4th, at Pink Iceland, Skólavörðustígur 16 ↗︎. We’ll head out on the Queer City Walk and return to the same place for welcome drinks and light snacks.

We’ll share bus pickup arrangements for the Golden Circle and optional Sky Lagoon visit once we know where everyone is staying.

Can you help with the rest of my trip?

Yes. Whether you need a hotel for the festival or want to explore more of Iceland before or afterwards, we can help with accommodation, tours, car rental and travel planning. Get in touch and tell us what you have in mind.

Is there a minimum age?

Yes. Rainbow Reykjavík is for guests aged 20 and over.

What are the cancellation terms?

These terms apply to both the festival package and the optional Sky Lagoon add-on.

  • More than 14 days before the festival starts: full refund.
  • Between 14 days and 48 hours before the festival starts: a 50% cancellation fee applies.
