Birna Eva and Hannes owners of Pink Iceland

Pink Iceland was founded by couple Eva María & Birna in March 2011 and in early 2012 their friend Hannes joined forces and the trio now owns and runs the company together with love.

Pink Iceland works for and with the LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender) community and specializes in day tours (gay tours), weddings, international and domestic events and festivals as well as organizing tailor-made luxury travel. With decades of combined experience in the tourism industry we guarantee a professional service, but perhaps more importantly a personal one. We at Pink Iceland pick our partners carefully, making sure our guests experience Iceland at its best and friendliest.

How
‍the Story
Begins

Pink Iceland started as project for an MA Tourism course I was doing back in 2010 where I came up with and created a business plan for an LGBTQI+ tour and travel company serving the community Im so proud to belong to.

I ended up submitting the business plan to innovation incubator Gulleggið where it was chosen to be one of 10 ideas to go through the incubating process. To make a long story short we got came in third and won a small cash prize. With the support of my then partner, now amazing wife, Birna Hrönn we took the leap and decided to officially start Pink Iceland.

We got in touch with our friend Hannes (Sasi) and asked him to work with us on developing a logo and website. Sasi matched our enthusiasm for the project and we all quickly sensed that this was a journey that we would take together and he became the third partner, the third point in the triangle that represents Pink Iceland and the history that enabled us to lead the lives we do today.

Our Honesty Policy

Pink Iceland is a privately owned company, and like any small business, we need to generate enough revenue to cover the salaries of our amazing team, pay for our cozy office space, website hosting, insurance, taxes, and the copious amounts of coffee it takes to keep us running. We do this through a combination of planning fees and commissions from the services we book on your behalf.

Here’s how that works: When we book services, activities, or accommodation with our partners, we typically receive a commission. This is basically a discount on the official or advertised price. This means you pay the standard rate you’d see online, and we keep the difference, usually between 5–15%. Our vendors are happy about this arrangement as they know we'll take care of communication and logistics which in turns saves them time and effort.

While this arrangement allows Pink Iceland to keep doing what we love, we want to be upfront about it. We’ll never recommend a service or supplier we don’t trust wholeheartedly or haven’t worked with personally. Integrity is non-negotiable, our reputation is built on strong relationships, happy clients, and glowing word of mouth. Your experience matters most and we’ll always do our best to craft a plan that fits your vision and your budget.

Why Pink Iceland?

The Pink color and the pink triangle play an important role in LGBT history.

The pink triangle, historically a symbol of oppression during the darkest times of the Nazi regime, has since been reclaimed as an emblem of resilience and pride within the LGBTQ+ community.

At Pink Iceland, we honor this legacy by embracing the pink triangle as a central motif in our brand identity. Our mission extends beyond providing exceptional travel experiences; we aspire to create a more inclusive and accepting world for all. By offering LGBTQI-friendly travel services and supporting various gay rights organizations globally, Pink Iceland strives to make a meaningful difference.

Our logo, featuring two intersecting triangles reminiscent of a snowcapped mountain, not only pays homage to our shared LGBTQ+ history but also invokes the majestic landscape of Iceland. Planning a wedding in Iceland from afar, especially with only five months, felt daunting at first. But from our very first conversation, Glóey assured us it was not only possible but that it would be wonderful. And they were absolutely right! My partner and I had no idea where to even begin, but Glóey made everything so incredibly easy. They listened to our vague ideas and magically transformed them into an absolute dream wedding. As someone who tends to be a bit Type A, I initially found it hard to let go of control when coordinating a wedding remotely. However, it was such a relief and joy to do so for our wedding, and Glóey made that possible. Their responsiveness, meticulous attention to detail, and ability to perfectly nail our vision quickly put all my worries at ease. They didn't just help us craft our vision and provide expert suggestions; they executed every idea flawlessly, surpassing any and all expectations we had for the day. Our ceremony site (Írárfoss) and our reception were STUNNING – and we really just provided our general vibe/preferences/and some inspo images to Glóey and they put that vision together. They did a fantastic job with all the details, while they also fostered an atmosphere that reminded us the day was about being in the moment. Beyond their excellent work, Glóey is simply a joy to be around. We had so much fun driving around Iceland taking photos with our fantastic photographer (Sunday & White, Laimonas) and Glóey before the ceremony. We genuinely wished we could have spent even more time together! I was initially unsure about taking photos before the ceremony, as we adjusted the schedule during planning, but Glóey suggested it, and I'm so incredibly glad we took their advice. That time before the ceremony was actually perfect for taking photos, laughing, and loosening up a bit. We cannot recommend Glóey and the entire Pink Iceland team highly enough.
