If you'd ask where is our favourite wedding location in Iceland you'd get a million and one answers. Being a wedding planner in Iceland is a privilege that Pink Iceland experiences every day. To have such a beautiful country to work in is a dream come true. We don't get too many opportunities to visit North Iceland but when we do, wow, we love it.

J&P decided that their Iceland wedding ceremony should take place in Ásbyrgi Canyon, a gem of North Iceland. Close by sits the charming farm Svartaborg, a collection of small cottages and a beautiful barn that became J&P’s Iceland wedding reception venue. An adventure up north for a wedding offers so many possibilities and endless breathtaking nature views. We had the absolute best time planning J&P's wedding and it was a beautiful, fun experience. From sitting in domestic plane with a cake on our lap, enjoying the remarkable hospitality of our hosts at Svartaborg to seeing the gorgeous newlyweds in the North Iceland nature saying their I do's.

“What can I say? Working with Pink Iceland for our wedding was an absolutely spectacular experience. From the beginning, our planner Heiðrún made everything so easy and wonderful.
My partner and I were both very nervous about this process because neither of us wanted a traditional wedding. Heiðrún listened to everything we had to say and was able to help create an experience that was so personal and special to us. The planning was very collaborative and transparent – I loved that we could work together and ask questions throughout the months of planning.
We both had been to Iceland before and very much wanted to have our ceremony in the north of Iceland. We loved how excited Heiðrún was about this, and she went above and beyond to make this day incredible. Heiðrún worked with us to find a stunning venue (Svartaborgir!) near the canyon where we wanted to get our ceremony that let our family stay together and celebrate the reception there as well. We were able to take care of the legal paperwork in Reykjavik with Arni (who was wonderful) in a simple ceremony in a beautiful garden by the church.
We did a pre-wedding tour the day before the wedding. HJ was a spectacular tour guide – he was so sweet with our 3 year old nephew – helping him down into a cave and even bringing him some handmade mittens that his mother made. The tour was a wonderful time for our families to bond together. We were able to spend the whole evening together and even got lucky and saw the northern lights together. Hard to beat!!
On the day of the wedding, Heiðrún took care of absolutely everything. She even surprised me with my dream bouquet – she found peonies! I knew this would be a long shot for a fall wedding in Iceland, but Heiðrún made it happen (this was the first of many times I cried happy tears this day).
I felt so held and supported by Heiðrún and our spectacular photographer Kristina Petra. Both of us were also nervous about being photographed, but Kristina was so wonderful and easy to be with. She immediately had our families laughing, and we felt so comfortable with her. One of my favorite moments of the day was making a stop with Kristina and Heiðrún in our wedding outfits to grab a hot dog on the way to the ceremony – it was a delight. The ceremony was in a perfect location, and we were able to celebrate with our close family and friends with a lovely picnic after the wedding (complete with Icelandic pancakes made from a women’s group in the north!).
I’m also still thinking about the meal we had at our reception venue (Svartaborgir!). Everything was delicious, the cake (which Heiðrún flew with on her lap from Reykjavik) was extraordinary, and the venue was so intimate, warm, and lovely.
I truly cannot express how wonderful this day was. It exceeded all of my expectation – I cried (happy tears!) so many times during the day and was just in awe of what Heiðrún was able to create. Heiðrún thought of absolutely everything, and I felt like my partner and I were free to be in the moment and enjoy the day with our family. I will treasure these memories forever.
Ultimately, if you have any doubts about who to work with for your celebration in Iceland you should know that Pink Iceland is the way to go. They are a wonderful, spectacular team, and I am so grateful to them for helping my partner and I have such a beautiful wedding together. And here I am getting misty again!
