Can a waterfall get much more majestic than this? Allow us to introduce you to Dynjandi Waterfall in the stunning Westfjords of Iceland. We were so happy when T&E decided to go for it, really get off the beaten path and chose the Westfjords of Iceland as the setting for their epic Iceland Wedding adventure.
Iceland Wedding photographer Kristín María joined us for the trip and we're so happy she did, these Westfjords Wedding photos are just stunning!
The couple and their guests stayed in the lovely village Þingeyri and in the midst of the blooming lupines the first look took place. Just look at how the mountains and ocean create a picture perfect backdrop, that's a very common theme in the Westfjords, hence the name.
Holtabryggja pier in Önundarfjord is probably the most picturesque pier in Iceland and we couldn't resist a photo stop there. The Golden Sand of Holtsfjara matched perfectly with the blue hue of the ocean that day.
After a morning spent roaming around Fjords for amazing Iceland Wedding photos what better way to energise than a traditional Icelandic coffee break at Kaffi Sól. Kaffi Sól translates to Café Sun which was very fitting on T&E's wedding day.
But even though some days it might be raining the host of Sun Café, Guðrún, would bring out a smile on anyone visiting and like we say in Iceland, bring a little sunshine into their hearts, both with her demeanour as well as delicious traditional Icelandic baked goods like her famous cinnamon buns & pancakes.

After everyone had been energised by the loveliest coffee break there ever was it was time to get going. Next stop on the wedding day schedule: Dynjandi waterfall. Iceland has endless amount of beautiful waterfalls but Dynjandi for sure is one of the show stoppers. On many levels with different layers the way it drops dramatically off the mountains is just an incredible site. Then when you turn around the view into the fjord is just jaw dropping as well. We were so happy that T&E chose Dynjandi as their Iceland wedding ceremony location.
The Dynjandi Wedding ceremony was performed by a Nordic chieftain. It's important to take time to relax, breathe and be in the moment, realise where you are standing before the ceremony begin and Haukur the Nordic chieftain does that very well.
The ceremony and the vows were heartfelt and beautiful.
During a Nordic chieftain wedding ceremony the horn gets passed around and guests have the opportunity to offer the couple their well wishes and kind words. Look how gorgeous the bouquet by Þórdís is.
Just married!
During the wedding ceremony the sole & soul focus is on the couple and the words being said so we love to host a wedding picnic after the ceremony at the ceremony location so both the guests and the couple get to relax and spend some time in the now very meaningful location.
The best photos happen when there is great co-ordination.
In the Westfjords of Iceland you will find some of the most unique Iceland Wedding reception venues. If your BBQ meal isn't prepared in an excavator and served inside a converted bus is it really a Westfjords BBQ? Simbahöllinn took amazing care of the newlyweds and their guests and gave us a tasty, intimate and authentic celebration.
Breaking of the cake. The traditional Icelandic kransakaka, that's a celebratory cake that you don't cut, you use your hands and break off a delicious piece!
